All figures in billion USD unless otherwise specified

In 2020, U.S. aerospace sales (NAICS 3364) declined 11.9% to $272.3 billion, while net income was $-22 million due to the fallout from the COVID-19 Pandemic. Not even during the the Great Recession did the U.S. Aerospace Industry as a whole incur a net loss. In 2020, stockholders' equity increased sharply to $90.9 billion, up 29.8% from 2019 resulting in a higher equity ratio (equity/assets) of 19.8%. Equity increased due to a surge in net working capital. The U.S. aerospace industry is performing well, however, leverage is on the rise. Since 2010, the asset base has increased 86% in value, whereas the industry's debt load is up 253%. In 2020, the asset base and debt increased 11.9% and 27.1%, respectively. With a debt ratio of 33.6%, leverage is significant but not at an alarming level.
